Love is a beautiful thing that allows life to take on a world of its own. Love, although many find it hard to find, is not only between two people in a relationship, but is also found throughout many aspects of life. Without love, this world would not operate the same way nor have the same meaningfulness.

As a child, you begin life with love right there to hold your hand. Parents are the first introduction we are given to love and often help us to form our perception of what the word “love” means. Although love comes in many shapes and forms throughout our life, our parents are usually what our foundation of love is built upon.

Parent, family, and sibling love is probably not the first thing people often think of when they hear the word “love” however. Even though it is the first example of love we get, it is not the one that people often find themselves seeking throughout their life. After you are given the example of love and compassion from your parents, the idea grows until it takes another form found through relationships. There are also many types of relationships in which love is found – including love shown for strangers or friends – but, as we enter into adulthood, the main focus falls to the love we find through our mate.

Relationships are very important for many people; especially if you’re a woman. Not everyone is the same of course, but I know that many women I hear from are always searching for that perfect someone to love them. Love is important in life so it only makes sense that people would seek it out and want to have someone there beside them to love them for the rest of their lives.

“First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage.” What a great example of how love can have an influence in your life. In elementary school, I would often hear someone being mocked by this little song, but looking back at it now, it seems to hold a deeper meaning. Love and marriage are important steps in a person’s life and with the birth of a child, well then you are starting the process all over again by introducing love to your newborn. It’s like a perfect circle of never ending love.

Recently being a bride myself, I know how special that moment of marriage can be. It is the ultimate celebration of the love you have for your partner. Taking a journey through your relationship together, love is a beautiful result of an attraction for each other. You hear a lot from people that your wedding day is the happiest day of your life. For me, I can honestly say that it was. The world around me seemed to change into this magical place with my husband at the forefront of it all. For those who are lucky enough to find love, your marriage is a great way to show commitment to that bond of love.

But what else does love influence in the world? Isn’t it just how two people feel? Well, not quite. The world itself seems to be cashing in on this wonderful feeling of love. Valentine’s Day, the cost of weddings, engagement rings, special dates and outings, as well as other presents for each other are all aspects that come with relationships. Love has always been something special that everyone wants to be a part of and celebrate, so it makes sense that a lot of the revenue of businesses come from elements of love. This isn’t a bad thing though – it just shows that love is able to keep everything moving and alive. Everyone needs an income to be able to survive and love can help to provide this.

Love is found everywhere you go; you just have to open your eyes and look around to be able to see it. Family, relationships, and businesses all rely on love to keep going. Without love, the world would be a harsh place to live in. Love is important to everyone and if we all loved just a little bit more, the world would not only keep going around, but it would be a better place for all.

Mary & Javier’s “Yours Forever” | Wedding Photography

It was a magical wedding for Mary & Javier as they had their intimate wedding at their backyard in Baldwin Park, CA area. I had never seen these two as happy as they were that day. Even when I had taken their engagement pictures – which they also looked very content in – they hadn’t seemed as overjoyed as they were in the exact moment that they were able to say “I Do”…

Mary and Javier had a very elegant wedding for their special day. Having it in the backyard of their Baldwin Park home, it was elegant and beautiful. The same could be said about this wonderful couple as well. Dressed gorgeously in their wedding attire, all eyes were pinned on the bride and groom as they stood together and said their vows together.

Having previously worked with Mary and Javier for their engagement session in Whittier Narrow Park, I was proud to see how far they had come in their relationship. The backyard was decorated beautifully as well. With a white tent for the guests to sit under and a grassy lush area for their ceremony, it was a great place to say “I Do”! I love backyard weddings like this one as well. With everyone brought in close together, you can feel the support and happiness all around you. I think that’s what made this so special.

The real beauty of this intimate wedding came as the night began to set in. Lining the tent with stunning twinkling lights and having small lamps made from jars lit up throughout the backyard, it was incredible to see. Having a live band to keep the night moving along, everything was exquisite and beautiful. Smiling and laughing throughout the day, it was a wonderful sight to see between them. Their wedding was marvellous!

Donna & Yann’s “C’est moi qui t’aime” | Paris Wedding Photography

Yes it was definitely love for this newly engaged couple as they had an incredible time in Paris, France! Donna and Yann were absolutely stunning as they exchanging loving glances and captivating smiles…

paris france wedding photography prewedding engagement

Nothing spells love like France. Well technically it doesn’t “spell” love but it definitely is filled with it no matter where you go. Donna and Yann contributed to this romantic atmosphere in Paris as they spent time together for their engagement session. These two were prime examples of two stunning people in love. Their body language all but yelled about the love they had together and they were a great couple to be around as we spent the day shooting pictures of their memories.

The chemistry between Donna and Yann was not hard to capture as they stood near the glorious Eiffel Tower. Sitting, standing, or walking in the street – it didn’t matter what they were doing as long as they were together. This happy couple was very enthusiastic and looked great as they smiled away the day together.

The Eiffel Tower was the perfect background for this timeless romantic love. Towering above them in the distance, it added nicely to the scene without providing a distraction from this beautiful couple. Making a nice background but also providing a landmark for them to be able to say “I was in FRANCE!”, this couple definitely found ways of being affectionate with each other. Smiles, laughter, and the beauty of love – this couple had it all as they spent their day in happiness.

Here’s what Donna said about their love story :
“I was introduced to my fiance through a mutual friend in a nightclub in Jakarta and exchanged a mere ‘Hi I’m Donna, nice to meet you.’ After all who wanted to get to know a salsa teacher who wore sunglasses indoors.

A few days later when I was visiting my grandmother I added the salsa teacher onto Facebook and got semi rejected as I had to provide 3 reasons as to why my friendship request should be approved. Something I didn’t have time nor the emotional capacity to do, so I advised my fiance that I would be throwing him into the too hard basket. Not used to being rejected himself, Yann accepted my request on the proviso that perhaps we could find some common ground and that he thought the idea of a koala bringing him a beer would be novel (because I am Australian).

So we agreed to have dinner when I returned to Jakarta, but not before sending a series of text messages and emails that challenged my initial thought of this otherwise intelligent-less salsa teacher (because all salsa teachers are stupid right?) It was not the mere flirtation that excited me, but the level of with that exuded from someone who spoke English as a second language. A humour that was akin to the Australian humour that I know, not taking oneself seriously and a light heartedness which was something I needed at the time.

I remember my stomach being in knots before our date. Looking back, I laugh at how incredibly nervous I felt. Throughout dinner I could not eat, I felt a connection I was longing for and yet I could not reconcile the fact that even if I wanted something serious to develop with this guy, it was impossible. He lives in Paris, I lived in Sydney. He loves Paris, wants to be close to his friends and family and I had my heart set on practicing law in Australia. As the evening drew to a close and we were in the elevator I felt a sadness that it would be the last time I saw this dumb salsa teacher who was in fact a smart engineer.

“When I returned to Sydney I knew something inside of me changed as I had met someone special. I could have written a Mills and Boon novel about our encounter because the honest truth was that I was smitten. Our email exchanges continued and I found myself going to Jakarta for a weekend to see him again, not long after Yann came to visit in Australia.

We agreed that it was all a bit of fun but the moment we started falling in love with each other, we needed to let the other know. I knew I was in trouble after Yann left Sydney. I was angry for letting myself get to that stage because no good could come out of us being together. Eventually the differences and the logistics would get the better of us. Yet not hearing from him made me sad and hearing from him made me 100 times more productive at work.

Towards the end of 2008, I returned to Indonesia to visit my grandmother one final time who at that point was destined to meet her maker and I told her that I had met the man I was going to marry. She passed away not long after and I realised I needed to introduce Yann to the people who mattered most. My parents. They had begun to think something was wrong with me because I was not yet married.

My father in his good natured way accepted Yann and welcomed him into our lives however my mother had a more interesting way of welcoming him. On the first meeting, she forcefully told him he needed to marry me because that is the way things are done which made me cry from embarrassment which made my cousin who was at our place cry because I was crying. My father remained sitting on his chair smiling and watching the bloodshed unfold. Yann took it like a real tropper and performed his obligatory duties (smiling and nodding).

I think my parents understood things were serious between us when I left Sydney to be with Yann, and indeed with trepidation I followed my heart. Living apart left a hole inside of me because all I wanted was to be with him – there was no real decision to make. So I packed 32 years of my life into 200kgs that were destined for Paris unbeknownst to me that I would marry Yann the following year.

Though we have had our share of challenges, I pinch myself on most days in disbelief that I have found the man of my dreams, someone who I love and who I am in love with. To have that love returned unconditionally is something that love songs are made of. Yann is my love song that I will never stop singing because I have a partnership that will last a lifetime and a lifetime filled with love and laughter.”
